We reserve one hour of one-on-one time for new patient appointments. Your appointment will cover the following areas, and may include treatment if appropriate.
Step 1: Your health and life priorities
Before we make treatment recommendations or actually treat you, on your first visit we’ll discuss your health and life priorities in addition to your medical status. Knowing what matters to you helps us tailor treatment to your unique needs. For example, the treatment plan for a runner, gardener, golfer or construction worker is each quite different.
Step 2: Your medical history and physical evaluation
Your appointment will include a detailed discussion about your injury or pain and an examination of the affected area. We’ll also review your medical history and talk with you about what you’ve tried so far to get better. If you have specific preferences – for example, perhaps you like to avoid prescription medication – we’ll talk about those, too.
Step 3: Treatment options, costs and timelines
Your pain specialist will explain all the available treatment options to you, including pros, cons, costs and timelines. Treatment often includes self-care components, like exercises you do at home, in addition to treatments received at our office.
During your visit, you’ll have plenty of time to get all your questions answered. Then you and your pain specialist will decide together which course of action is best for you.
Step 4: Healing
We want you to start feeling better as quickly as possible!
