New Non-Surgical Office Procedure for Chronic Knee Pain

knee-pain-reliefWhen knee replacement isn’t an option or hasn’t resolved severe knee pain

If you’re suffering from painful knee arthritis, still hurting months after a knee replacement, or your doctor says a knee replacement isn’t right for you, you may want to consider minimally invasive Genicular (knee) Nerve Radiofrequency Ablation (GNRA), which deactivates pain signals sent by the nerves located around the knee.

How it works

GNRA can be effective where traditional therapies haven’t helped. It takes about 15 minutes and is done here in our office. We first conduct a “diagnostic block” – a short diagnostic test with a local numbing agent to confirm exactly which nerves are responsible for your pain. We then use radio frequency ablation technology to deactivate the nerve signals from that area.

The procedure takes about 15 minutes to perform, and while individual experiences may vary, pain relief typically lasts 6 to 12 months.

Is this right for you?

Our pain management physicians offer this non-surgical outpatient procedure to patients who are not candidates for knee replacement or who have developed persistent pain after knee replacement surgery and may benefit from an alternate approach to chronic severe knee pain.

Just give us a call at (973) 366-6615 to talk to us about your situation and schedule an evaluation of whether an ablation procedure might help your chronic knee pain.
